L-(+)-Tartaric Acid | Food & Industrial Grade | CAS 87-6

L-(+)-Tartaric Acid – Natural Organic Acid | Food / Industrial / Pharma Grade | CAS: 87-69-4

L-(+)-Tartaric Acid (C₄H₆O₆, CAS No. 87-69-4, EINECS: 201-766-0) is a natural chiral organic acid widely extracted from grape fermentation deposits, recognized as one of the safest and most versatile food additives globally. Our factory specializes in the production of three standard specifications: food grade, industrial grade, and pharmaceutical grade L-Tartaric Acid. Adopting advanced natural fermentation purification and synthetic crystallization dual processes, our products feature high purity, low impurity content, stable acidity and excellent water solubility, with a mainstream purity of 99.5%~101.0%. Fully compliant with FCC, USP, EP and EU food standard regulations, our tartaric acid is exported to Europe, America, Southeast Asia, Middle East and other regions, serving food processing, beverage brewing, pharmaceutical synthesis, textile printing and dyeing, fine chemical and construction material industries.

1. Physical & Chemical Properties

High-purity L-Tartaric Acid appears as colorless transparent monoclinic crystal or white crystalline powder, with a pure and refreshing sour taste, no peculiar smell. It is easily soluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble in glycerol, and insoluble in ether, benzene and other organic solvents. The aqueous solution presents weak acidity, with stable acid value and strong buffering performance. Different from DL-Tartaric Acid, L-type tartaric acid has natural chiral activity, better human body compatibility and higher safety, and will not produce irritant residues after metabolism. The product features stable chemical properties, not easy to deliquesce or deteriorate under normal temperature and sealed storage, with outstanding anti-oxidation and color-fixing performance.

3. Core Industrial & Commercial Applications

3.1 Food & Beverage Industry (Top Google Search Demand)

As a natural food acidity regulator and flavor enhancer, L-(+)-Tartaric Acid is widely used in wine, fruit juice, soft drinks, candy, jam and baked goods. In winemaking, it stabilizes wine pH value, improves taste layering, prevents microbial spoilage and effectively inhibits tartar precipitation. In food processing, it replaces synthetic citric acid and malic acid in many scenarios, providing pure natural sourness, improving product flavor, and exerting anti-browning and fresh-keeping effects to extend shelf life. It is a necessary additive for high-end organic food and beverage production.

3.2 Baking & Leavening Agent Field

Matched with baking soda as a high-efficiency composite leavening agent, L-Tartaric Acid reacts stably at low temperature to produce uniform gas, making bread, cakes and pastries fluffy and soft with fine texture. It avoids bitter taste and excessive acidity caused by chemical synthetic leavening agents, meeting the production standards of high-end baking food and Western pastry.

3.3 Pharmaceutical & Fine Chemical Industry

Pharmaceutical grade L-Tartaric Acid is used as chiral resolution agent, pharmaceutical intermediate stabilizer and acid-base regulator for antibiotic drugs, cardiovascular drugs and vitamin preparations. In fine chemical synthesis, it serves as a chelating agent and catalyst auxiliary for the production of tartrate salts, food emulsifiers and chiral chemical materials, with high reaction activity and stable product quality.

3.4 Textile, Electroplating & Construction Industry

Industrial grade tartaric acid is used as dyeing auxiliary and color fixing agent in textile printing and dyeing industry, improving dye adhesion and color fastness of fabrics. In electroplating processing, it acts as a metal chelating agent to stabilize plating solution and improve coating uniformity. In concrete and building materials, it is used as a high-efficiency retarder to delay cement hydration, enhance concrete fluidity and improve construction performance.

4. Manufacturer Core Advantages

Firstly, we adopt dual production processes of natural grape fermentation and synthetic purification, ensuring stable supply of food-grade natural tartaric acid with pure natural attributes and higher market recognition. Secondly, all products pass FCC, USP, HALAL, KOSHER and food safety certifications, fully compliant with global food and pharmaceutical grade access standards. Thirdly, we have automated production lines and strict batch testing system, with stable optical rotation and impurity indicators, avoiding quality fluctuation of inferior blended products. Fourthly, flexible MOQ supports sample trial and bulk long-term orders, with sufficient spot inventory all year round and professional export document team to provide one-stop global trade services.

5. Storage & Safety Instructions

Store L-Tartaric Acid in a cool, dry, ventilated warehouse, away from direct sunlight, high temperature and humid environment. Keep sealed to prevent moisture absorption and caking. It is prohibited to store and transport together with strong oxidants, strong alkalis and toxic chemicals. During operation, wear dust-proof masks and protective gloves to avoid long-term inhalation and direct skin contact. In case of accidental eye contact, rinse with plenty of clean water immediately. The product is low-toxic and environmentally friendly, meeting international green chemical transportation standards.
